In Japan I can change yen to $ or $ to yen at only 2 % difference from the actual exchange rate. Does anyone know of banks or currency exchange services here in USA that also do not charge usuary exchange fees? In the Atlanta airport the bank there was charging a ridiculous 14 % fee even for thousands of dollars worth of yen. I will need to do this kind of exchange on a regular basis so this is of much concern to me. Thank you for any help.

a. an increase in U.S. income will cause a decrease in the supply of dollars and a decrease in the demand for foreign currencies.
b. higher U.S. real ineterest rates relative to other nations will increase the supply of dollars. c. if the price level in the U.S. falls relative to the price level in foreign nations, U.S. exports will increase and imports decrease, causing the demand for dollars to rise and the supply of dollars to fail.
d. it is easy to correctly estimate the long run equilibrium exchange rate.

I know I’m losing money. however he claims that if it’s 1 to .64 (like it is now) that a clock for 100 dollars over here will be worth 64 dollars so it does not matter what the exchange rate is, just if inflation has not caught up… thats what determines if I loose money.

If my company, a US company, wanted to barter with a European company and trade goods for goods, would that be a way to avoid the very negative exchange rate problem that we face right now with Europe?

I am traveling to Europe and need to know how to get the best exchange rate for my money, i.e. cash, travelers checks, credit card, debit card, pre-paid VISA? I will be needing to exchange in both Euro and GBP.

Suppose a bottle of wine costs 25 euros in France and 20 dollars in the United States. If the exchange rate is 1.25 euros per dollar, what is the real exchange rate?
